Popular culture has made it increasingly acceptable for girls (and sometimes guys) to wear less and less clothing. How much farther can it go? Short-shorts are shorter, pants are falling, necklines are plunging, and shirt hems are rising. The media is raising a generation that believes there's nothing wrong with dressing like a hooker on a regular basis.

As early as elementary school, girls start wearing midriff-bearing tops and it continues throughout high school, as skirts get shorter and pants get tighter, even when these risqué styles are much, much less than flattering (especially on certain figures). The question then arises, as people continue to push the envelope, how much more can be revealed?

The media has a greater and great influence every day, with the expansion of the Internet and the increasing amount of TV people watch on a daily basis. People are constantly bombarded with images of Hollywood starlets wearing next to nothing. Although these outfits cause outrage amongst adults (and sometimes even teenagers), the fact that they are becoming more and more common sends the message that this is an appropriate way to dress. Even though the people wearing that which can hardly be considered clothing are celebrities, (people who practically live by an entirely different set of laws) young people often have a distorted conception of reality, and to them, it's perfectly acceptable to copy these outrageous styles.

As a result, normal people with a sense of modesty are forced to endure girls wearing jeans two sizes too small in an effort to look like the sexy movie stars they see everywhere. Even worse are those with no sense whatsoever, wearing low cut pants and cropped shirts that reveal rolls of fat most people would rather drink bleach than have to see on a daily basis.

The overabundance of skin also results in much more serious problems such as eating disorders and distorted body image. As celebrities (and even other girls) flaunt their perfect bodies with decreasing amounts of fabric, Average Jane feels fat and gross by comparison. Anorexia, bulimia, or even overeating often accompanies these feelings of insecurity.

With such big, high-heeled, pointy-toed shoes to fill, is it any wonder today's youth are either donning trashy attire or purging their food (or both)? The lack of clothing is reaching nauseating levels. At this rate, people should be walking around nude within a few years. So please, for the love of God, put your clothes back on.
