We have seen many fantastic bands come out of the Welsh music scene in the past decade or so; Lost Prophets, The Blackout and Kids In Glass Houses, to name a few; but now it's the turn of The New 1920 to take the spotlight and fly the flag for their country.
They've already supported their Welsh brothers on various tours and their new debut EP is even produced by Stuart Richardson, Mike Lewis and Ian Watkins of Lost Prophets so it would be a huge disappointment if it didn't live up to it's expectations.
With influences from The Jam, Kings Of Leon and The Strokes, this four track EP showcases the band's punchy, rough and ready sounding songs. Opening track 'Come Around' has a fighting, punk edge to it and it's chants of "it's epic, it's epic," really hit the nail on the head when describing this track.
'Amber Gambler,' is not only a great name for a song, but it's a riff-tastic track thats brimming with infectious choruses, definitely a stand out track on the EP.
'Head For The Exit,' is the most pop punk track on the EP, with much heavier guitars and pulsing melodies. End track 'Keep On,' is a live acoustic track that is surprisingly upbeat and tops off the EP nicely.
With tales of "love, loss and city life," the EP is an addictive listen and one that has huge potential for The New 1920, definitely living up to expectations.
