30 seconds to Mars, a band that is both old and new as they’ve found success in the USA way before they reached the shores of the UK, have returned once more with the 3rd single released from their current album.
Following other hits such as ‘The Kill’ and ‘Attack’, this track shows us both something old and new about this band and their sound. We have a mix of the classic highs and lows in emotive guitar and melody sections and often haunting vocals from Jared, but this single is more on the softer side lyrically compared to its previous two.
Telling the story of a man who has to face up to his decision but doesn’t want to face up to the future he has created for himself.
The tune is extremely catchy and could almost drill a hole in my head from the amount of times I’ve heard it and it has a epic (to say the least) video to match.
One downfall I’d have to say would be that it doesn’t really stand out amongst the many rock/ballad/power songs that are around at the moment from the likes of Madina Lake, Linkin Park and Funeral for a Friend.
It is by no means a bad track or even unworthy of a listen but it doesn’t have anything that really jumps out and grabs you when you consider the many other similar in style songs that are pumped out of music channels today.
I’d suggest that maybe you reach for the album rather than just the single but I’d highly recommend checking out the video as it is a real cherry on the cake for this track.
