Along with the fellow hard core fans that have been here since the early hours of the morning (some whom have been here for 2 days and were told they couldn't start queing that early), we find ourselves sitting on the cold damp streets of wembley, waiting and gearing ourselves up for the show of our lives. We may have an idea of what we are about to experience but once the gig begins all those ideas, theories and hopes are blown apart and we are left reeling from the pure glory of it all. As the hours tick by more people arrive, more fans become friends and more buzz is created as the sound check can be vaguely overheard through the walls, the merchandise is delivered and the security starts to get more organized to control the MCRmy (an epic event in itself).
Once the doors are opened we all shuffle inside and find our spot for the night that we going to hang onto for dear life in order to see the show, the band and evening in a perfect place. As the lights fade down a hospital gurney is pushed out and 'The End' begins as our leader, Mr Gerard Way, climbs off and staggers around the stage. Then the drums kick in, the black curtain falls and the boys are back in town for good in all our hearts.
The idea of performing an entire album start to finish would seem slightly insane to your average band but when you're working with material of such high standards as 'The Black Parade', it's hard to think of any other way to perform it. If this was not enough for the hordes of fans, we are also treated to a sprinkling of 'old school' tracks from the 'Three Cheers...' album to remind us how good the boys are with new or old material. Beloved tracks such as 'Welcome to the black parade' which finales with a rain of black and white confetti, 'Mama', which is nothing short of perfection and 'Teenagers' dedicated to 'the UK's number one killing machine', the boys clearly still joke with us about the evil cult of emo we have been assigned to, are all creamed together in a delightful dream of a rock show that surpasses anything you are likely to witness this year , if not the rest of your gig-going days.
The old favourites still make us and My Chem smile and each member performs as if they are being pumped with pure aderanile. Frank beams his smile continuously (except on the Friday show as he struggles on through sickness to perform as much as he can before he just can't continue, but none the less still giving 100% of his heart), Mikey and Ray rock out the way they were born to, Bob is more than a drummer, he is a genius and Gerard has found his place here as 'the saviour of the broken, the beaten and the damned'.
If you get a chance to ever see My Chemical Romance perform, take it; because as these two nights prove, no matter where, when and how, these boys will rock your world, and leave you hanging on for dear life as they take away all thoughts that they are just a 'fad' and are here to march onwards and upwards with an army fit for any country. My only wish would be to hear something from their earlier works (the gritty and awesome 'Bullets' album) just so i can relive the early days of a band, before they are moved into their righteous place in rock history.
