After having a hit single with former band 'Out Of Your Mouth,' Jason Darr is back with the band Neurosonic who are releasing their debut album 'Drama Queen' in 2007.
Jason wrote, produced and played almost all of the instruments on the album and has said to have taken core elements from artists such as My Chemical Romance, Slipknot and System Of A Down.
Album opener 'So Many People' begins with a gritty techno mix which sounds almost like the beginnings of a Linkin Park track. The track has an underline techno beat to it, catchy and very comical lyrics which refer, at one point to the press and 'phoney little' Hollywood Socialites.
'Are Solar' is a slower paced track which includes an almost hip hip style rap accompanied by random hand clapping which is repeated throughout the song. At around 1minute 30secs into the song, the guitars want to make your ears bleed and the vocals take a grainy effect to them. The song eventually slows down with a simple beat and fades out, into track 3.
The first few songs take a pretty long time to get through and by the time I reach Track 5, 'Crazy Sheila,' I feel like I've already listened to a whole album. 'Boneheads' is a pretty interesting title for a song and again, it starts with a sort of techno mix including obvious vocal effects. So far, every song has been catchy and this is no exception. The vocals are alot slower yet still as powerful and accompanied by guitars that are making noises only dogs could hear.
'Frankenstein' begins with a simple drum beat and the song includes a catchy string beat to it. This track is a deffinate hit for the band, it's full of head-banging riffs and memorable lyrics.
The final track on the album is 'For The Boy' and starts with soft guitar strumming. The vocals are alot less gritty on this track and are backed by boy band type harmonies. Its the perfect mellow track to calm down anyone thats been listening to the rest of the album.
Neuronsonic are a completely different band to anything out there. There are deffinately elements of System Of A Down and Nine Inch Nails throughout the album but nowhere can I hear elements from My Chemical Romance as suggested. The album is a brilliant mixture of metal, rock and pop music and will deffinately serve well for the band.
