Continual touring and performing can drain a band to the point of exhaustion and leave them with little strength to even think of producing a record, however it seems that ‘Rentokill’ have done both and still have more in them yet with the soon to be released ‘AntiChorus’. A very political heavy record in terms of subject matter but it never weighs down the listen, if anything it spurs you on to hear what they have to say. The danger with releasing a “political record” is being label as such and thought of as nothing more than a band who want to say something but can’t hold the audience long enough to be heard…not when it comes to ‘Rentokill’ who not only got my attention but got me to go back for more and more since their album arrived on my doorstep.

Sharp and snappy, the four piece band from Austria have delivered a championing record that taps into the politically aware youth culture and highlights how music can change things. Today’s listeners are tomorrows’ movers and shakers and by having bands like ‘Rentokill’ step up to the stage with something important to pass along with the punk anthems, is nothing but a good thing to see. With catchy lyrics (Are we screaming to listen or listening to scream) and head banging melodies the stomping nature of the record as whole holds a pace that would keep any punk fan happy. I certainly was.

Highlights come in the form of ‘Primetime Killers’, ‘Abandoning Democracy’ and ‘This Time we try to Separate’, with the use of punk and rock standards, samples of political statement audio and gut wrenching vocals ‘AntiChorus’ is a record that jumps and marches to the beat of its own drum and will have you bouncing in time as you absorb its 15 track thrill ride.

‘AntiChorus’ is out to buy soon and if you can catch them live I suggest take note because if the record is anything to judge by their live shows must tear the room apart.
