Hailing from Hertforshire, Scream! Shout! Say Nothing! came together with the intention of making honest music with no specific genres in mind. After playing only 7 shows, the band were snapped up by UK Indie label Scylla Records.
The band have already supported the likes of Trancecore rockers 'Enter Shikari' and are set to embark on an extensive UK tour throughout February 07.
After having the bands CD that was sent to me, not work, I had to resort to listening to the three tracks on their Myspace profile.
'The Heavy Heart of A Nine-to-Fiver' begins with a soft introduction that lasts a pretty long time; eventually the scratchy vocals of Ben Davies show up accompanied by heavy guitars and pounding beats. The track takes a slower turn, letting the listener understand what is being sung for a few moments. The powerful chants that follow are sure to get every crowd member joining in and pumping their fists in the air.
'Clouds and Hurricanes' is another track that begins with a soft introduction followed by abrasive, incomprehensible shouting. I prefer the slower parts of the tracks as they show a melodic and rhythmic side to the band.
Yet again the band greets us with a soft introduction in 'Leave These Battles To The Angels,' getting a little bit repetitive now isn't it? You can probably guess whats coming, yep, those screams are back, but they aren't as abrasive and incomprehensible and are layered with electronic keyboard sounds.
The band have said they would rather create music for the pure enjoyment of it than be driven by musical ambitions and social trends, one trend that I can see blowing up in the UK at the moment; thanks to the likes of 'Enter Shikari,' is exactly what these guys are producing.
