As co-founders of the successful pop punk ‘Get Happy Tour’ with Bowling for Soup; Army of Freshmen know their market and fan base and this album is the result of this knowledge and skill with the care and attention to producing a record that is clever and joyous to hear with each track.
Opening with ‘Wrinkle in Time’; a song about going back to a lost love, we get a taste of the upbeat and bouncy style of chirpy punk that you can’t help but smile at. For fans of bands like Motion City Soundtrack, Zebrahead (recent touring buddies), Bowling for Soup that like a bit of fun with their rock and punk with a touch of California sunny optimism that is hard to miss. The genre may not be as popular as it once was in the hay days of Blink 182 and Sugarcult but it still has an audience and a place in my heart as that care free style of music that you can enjoy when you need a smile or just want to bop around too.

Most of the tracks are based around the tales of high school romance and friendships and life in California as well as name checks ranging from Shakespeare in ‘Juliet’ to Sinatra in ‘Through the Screen’ and The Beach Boys in ‘Maybe in the Midwest’; pop culture is part of the pop in pop punk.
Recommended tracks are ‘Wrinkle in Time’, ‘Some Happy Ending’ and ‘At the End of the Day’ though the whole album is worth your time and money. Happy times from some good guys that enjoy what they do and you hear it in every track from first till last on ‘Under the Radar’.
