The Dead Formats self titled mini CD opened up with their first track “Again and Again,” interesting, was the first thought that came to mind. The entire album progressed with steady drumbeats, jagged guitar riffs and a combination of vocal stylings, sure to keep the listener, well, listening. The Dead Formats name The Clash and The Jam as some of their influences and even give a nod to soul music and the 70’s Punk scene. How the bloody hell do they manage to bring all of these aspects into their music you may ask? Well let me tell you, they manage.

The entire CD represents the bands originality and shows their versatility well. Every song is energetic and lively, but perhaps the highlight of the CD is the final song, Wind Up. The jagged guitar combined with the raspy vocals truly make this the best song on the album.

All in all, I enjoyed The Dead Formats mini CD. With their interesting sound they add something new to the music scene. I look forward to seeing what other tricks The Dead Formats have up their sleeves.
