There’s no denying that Welsh rock wonders Funeral For A Friend have been publicly experimenting with their sound over the years. At times it paid off (Casually Dressed and Deep in Conversation) and at other times it didn’t (Hours), but thankfully the band now seem to have got it right and we can finally give in to the temptation and treat ourselves with their brand new single ‘Front Row Seats To The End Of The World,’ taken from their eagerly anticipated new album, ‘Welcome Home Armageddon.’

After losing the much loved Darran Smith from the line up, bassist Gavin Burrough took on guitar duties and the band quickly recruited Richard Boucher and Kris Coombs to help beef things back up. This is the first track since ‘Red Is The New Black’ that drummer Ryan Richards has been given the chance to flex his vocal chords on. Back then, he took on co vocals with front-man Matt Davies and is doing so again, growling and snarling his way through the track effortlessly.

The band’s sound is right on track again as it holds a heavy yet real aggression that contrasts perfectly with the clean cut vocals of Matt Davies. They have managed to find the balance between bolting metal riffs, melodies and good old fashioned singing and it’s a promising sign that Funeral For A Friend are back doing what they do best with a sound that they should have stuck with from the beginning.
