'Arcane,' the new single from British band New Education, is the best kind of radio-rock: it gets in your head on the first listen, the music rocks, and the lyrics manage to be sweet without being sappy.

The song is immediately arresting, sonically channeling a heavier version of U2. The guitar takes the lead throughout the song and rips it up without going too crazy. The perfect echoing of vocals and guitar during the chorus is the exact combination to make for an instant sing-a-long number.

The lyrics aren’t overly complicated, but that’s a good thing in this case, because it allows the listener to get lost in the repetition of “I need you to save me,” as the guitar swirls into another ripping solo.

Ignore the title: there’s nothing arcane going on here.
