Nick Barker - The Retreat, Brunswick - February 6th
Longevity in the music industry is quite possibly one of the hardest things for a musician to achieve.
Nick Barker, however, has been a constant in the Melbourne pub scene for nearly three decades and is showing no indication of leaving any time soon.
Playing a one-off solo acoustic gig on Wednesday 6th February at The Retreat in Brunswick allowed Nick to showcase his tunes stripper back in a relaxed atmosphere. Nick played mostly songs from his 2004 album ‘C-Sides’ as well as the token cover (‘The Waiting’ by Tom Petty) and a new tune.
Wearing jeans and a classic white t-shirt, Nick’s trademark banter and jokes kept the audience captivated between songs.
The crowd numbers were disappointing, even for a weeknight, but didn’t hamper Nick’s energetic performance.
Nick is always a musician worth seeing live solely for his stage presence and banter. He never fails to impress.
