Apparently inspired by their European tour of late last year, Rancid return with a new track which serves as a taster for their much anticipated forthcoming new album. The single ‘Last One To Die’ is a triumphant return to form for Rancid, led as ever by the enigmatic front man Tim Armstrong.

The track opens with a jaunty riff which will not only satisfy existing fans but will also excite new listeners. The lyrics are a clear celebration of the enduring nature of the band and their particular way of living the punk rock lifestyle until you die!

If you listen to this track hoping to hear some sort of musical progression in the bands style you will be sorely disappointed. However, hopefully the beautifully crafted breakdown in the middle of the song will make up for the predictable approach taken by the band.

The new album from Rancid ‘Let The Dominoes Fall’ is due for general release on June 1st, on the strength of this one track the album deserves to be another hit for the band. However, also judging the album by this single there will probably be no major break from the traditional Rancid style in any of the tracks. All in all though, I for one am very much looking forward to hearing the album in full and urge you to check it out.
