‘Access Denied’ is a solid first attempt for Statement Code. Formed in January 2009, this band's potential is evidently shown throughout these five songs. This E.P may be a quick listen but the use of catchy lyrics (try getting “Superhero” out of your head after the first listen) and melodic keyboards to accentuate the guitar driven pop punk will keep you wanting more.

My only suggestion would be to get a producer who can provide a higher quality recording and really bring out the talent that is peeking out of this album. The two vocalists also need to practice the harmonies together and well as on their own. There were several instances throughout when the voices would clash just a little. With constant practice, the vocals will really intensify the accommodating music.

As I mentioned before, 'Access Denied' is a great first E.P for Statement Code. For those listeners who usually prefer high production, easy to swallow pop music, skip this album and wait until these guys produce a better quality recording. But with an open mind and patience, this band can only move forward with future releases. Plus who doesn't love bragging to friends years from now “I knew them when...”?
