We have all been there, those times we’ve laid on the grass with our friends, pointing out the dinosaurs or the Bob the Builder shaped clouds or those times we just wanted to put the headphones on and blast our favorite jams without anyone bothering us, letting each musical note possess us.
"I can't sleep, I can't sleep, pictures invading my mind, unwelcome scenes from the past left behind." "Sleep," one of four songs off The Autumn Film’s successor album 'The Grey EP,' is a song about racing thoughts from the past as the singer narrates how it’s stopping her from sleep. The whole song is beautiful and has a romantic, frustrated emotion to it. The melodic piano notes and drum beats paint the foundation while Tifah’s hushed, aching voice speaks of the thoughts that trial her mind while trying to escape to her personal slumber of rest.
The rest of the EP has slow and dramatic piano beats while the drum beats and guitar rifts roll in the backdrop for a more intensified feel to it. As the music picks up, the strumming of the violin climactically hums along in the background along softly with Tifah’s sultry chocolaty voice.
The band features a three-piece set up: Tifah Al-Attas (vocals, piano, and guitar); Dann Stockton (drums, accordion) and Reid Phillips (guitar, programming) from Boulder, Colorado. Their sound creates a smooth, flawless piano-esk atmosphere with rockin drum beats that keep you craving for more, like your favorite candy bar.
The four songs featured in the 'Grey EP' are on their website for free download, so if breathtaking pianos and upbeat rock beats are your thing, check ‘em out at TheAutumnFilm.com
