When I heard the first few seconds of ‘United is our Kingdom,’ it reminded me of 80's punk and Britpop. I thought of The Jam, The Specials etc who this four piece model themselves on. This isn't one of my favourite tracks but it's got a personality that stands out from the monotonous mainstream. When you get to the chorus it does become more modern but one that will fill the dance floor.

Putting a more current twist on their EP, TOWN throw at us, ‘No Detonating Me’. Lyrically and vocally speaking this gets a thumbs up from me and the guitars and drums are really maximised. I loved the drum work and the drum and guitar collaboration really makes the track what it is, awesome!

‘The New Sensation’ for me is a bit average and too similar to mainstream stuff I have heard before. I like this song but the more I hear it, the more mainstream it sounds. It is a once in a while listen, whereas ‘Eighteen’ is a top rated in my Ipod.

I'm going to wake up in the morning with this song still in my head because it is extremely catchy and I'm quite happy for it to stay there. “Eighteen” is a free download from TOWN's debut album “Original Design” out on November 9. After listening to the EP I would rate them as an eight on a scale of one to ten, ten being the best and now I am greatly anticipating a tour.

Alex Nash(Vocals), Hamish Kay(Guitar), Jamie Roberts(Bass) and Luke Marc Hughes(Drums) from Newport, South Wales put themselves under the Brit-pop/New wave sound following their 80's influence. Unsigned as yet but the future looks promising with performances alongside Kids in Glass Houses, The Buzzcocks and One Night Only. These ambitious boys are produced by the people behind Motorhead, Manic Street Preachers and Lostprophets, so they will have no problems establishing themselves.
